2023 Colouring Pages
In 2023 UCC Library published a themed colouring book using images from the online exhibition Life on Land: Birds & Trees from the 17th to 21st Centuries created by Elaine Harrington & John Rooney.
This online exhibition links to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 15: Life on Land. The goal of SDG 15 is to protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss.
The exhibition focuses on birds and trees as a means of exploring these themes, using examples found within UCC’s campus and the wider Cork region. In addition, Life on Land: Birds & Trees from the 17th to 21st Centuries links to UCC’s Sustainable Development Goal Toolkit and UCC’s 2023-2028 Strategic Plan: Securing Our Future.
The colouring book and exhibition are one example of how we demonstrate the continuing relevance of historical printed sources in UCC Library’s Special Collections to modern research and global challenges.
