Introduction

Blender is a free and open-source 3D creation suite that supports Windows, macOS, Linux, and other platforms. It is widely used for creating animated films, visual effects, 3D models for printing, motion graphics, video games, and virtual reality content. Blender supports the entire 3D workflow, including modelling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing, and video editing. This guide acts as an introduction to becoming familiar with Blender. Although this guide is fully comprehensive on its own, YongHong Chen’s “The Data Loom“, also published by UCC, is an excellent look at utilising Blender in another way and can be paired with this guide.
